Peig McMahon studied Art at the Cork Municipal School of Art. Her studies there resulted in the award of three studentships. The school is now The Crawford Art Gallery.
After leaving this school she studied for a different career, but later returned to Art and attended the National College of Art, also the Dun Laoghaire Art School and ICS School of Drawing and painting to Diploma standard and University College Dublin for the study of the History of Art.
During her studies, Peig completed a course with the Irish school of Landscape Painting and studied water colour with John Skelton and Bill Spencer. She paints in a number of mediums including oil, watercolour, and acrylics. Peig McMahon has been a member of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, and also the Dublin Art Society, for many years. Her work can also be seen in the Pier Gallery, Kinsale, Co. Cork. She has been requested to do many major commissions and her paintings can be seen in many Banks and Business houses both in Ireland and abroad.
