Born in Dublin, Barbara developed an early love of painting, which in turn led to various artistic pursuits.
Having studied at the College of Marketing, Art & Design, she graduated as a qualified Interior Designer and subsequently ran her own successful business for many years.
Twenty years ago, never having lost her interest in art and following tuition from some well known Irish artists, she started painting full time.
Her initial work was accepted by a number of galleries and this was soon followed by a sell-out solo exhibition at The Quay Gallery, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, in association with The Kilkenny Arts Festival.
Working mainly in oils, she is drawn to the charm of old architecture in urban scenes, but equally loves the challenge of capturing light and atmosphere in rural landscapes. She enjoys the immediacy of painting on location whenever possible.
Barbara is Past President of The Dublin Painting & Sketching Club and is also Past President of The Dublin Art Society. She exhibits with both groups on a regular basis.
She now enjoys teaching oil painting and conducts her own classes in Foxrock, Co. Dublin.
Her work is widely exhibited, much of it commissioned, and features in private collections in Ireland, the UK, France, Spain, Russia and the US.
