Deirdre Ó Cíosóig studied landscape with Henry Healy in the late seventies, and later studied art in the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art and Technology over four years. Subjects studied: Life Drawing, Portraiture, Landscape and Still Life.
She attended summer schools for many years in Achill with the artist and teacher Desmond Turner.
She is a member of the Dublin Art Society and the Park Art Group, founded by Tom Roche, and exhibits regularly with them.
She is a painter primarily inspired by light-and loves to capture nature with the transformative influence of morning and evening light. She is fascinated with water, with its myriad changes in mood and colour.
She also likes to paint still life, with its emphasis on texture and surface.
Many of her paintings feature figures, as she loves to observe children and adults enjoying life.
She paints in a semi-impressionist style, and aims to keep her brushstrokes loose, with an overall harmony of colour.
She has exhibited in group exbibitions in Dublin and Achill, and has shown in galleries in Dublin and Westport.
Her paintings are in private collections at home and abroad.
