Brid was born in Sligo in 1941 and now lives in Malahide. Commencing painting in 1970, she studied at the Irish School of Landscape Painting (1976 – 1979), and at the National College (NCAD) course in life drawing and painting.

She is a Founder Member of the European Institute of Watercolours, 1988 and is a member of: the Water Colour Society of Ireland and the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club.

Brid is also a founder of the International Association of Watercolours (IAW), 1996 which has the objective of promoting cultural exchange, international workshops, and exhibitions.

Brid regards herself as primarily a landscape painter through the medium of watercolour. However in 2007, she embarked on a series of self expression and mood based portraits which she regards as being an important element of her life’s work to date.

She has held numerous solo exhibitions in Ireland, Brussels and Germany, since 1987, including an exhibition titled “Atlantic Coast Ireland” at the European Parliament in 2004.

Her paintings are included in public and private collections throughout the world. In Ireland these include Bank of Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, a number of Government Departments, including the Department of Foreign Affairs for Irish Embassies abroad, the Norwich Union, University of Limerick, and the German-Irish Chamber of Commerce.

She has won a number of prizes including the DART prize at the annual Watercolour Exhibition on two occasions.
