Margo has been painting since she was quite young and attended many art classes.
In her late teens she moved to Spain and continued painting. However when she later returned to Ireland, she took classes in ceramics and this lead to a fourteen year career in sculpting, in particular sculpting the human figure. However, she eventually missed the experience of drawing and painting and realised these mediums would best allow her to express her creative spirit.
While Margo is from Dublin her mother from west Kerry imbued in her, as a child, a sense of the place from which she came. Thus Margo’s work in both drawing and painting is greatly influenced by a spiritual link to ‘her mother’s place’, as expressed in her landscape work and her drawings and paintings of wild animals. Margo in particular uses the hare and the crow in her drawings and paintings in a semi-abstract motif, linking to the wild Kerry ‘scape.
Margo exhibits in major galleries in Ireland and has had a number of well received solo shows, most recently, in the Origin Gallery in 2015, United Arts Club in 2014, Draoicht in 2014 and Origin Gallery in 2012. She has been an invited exhibitor at the RHA Annual Exhibition and her work is held in major collections at home and abroad.
