Scrubland Over Goosefield – Mary Duffy
Not so long ago, Mary Duffy found her subject matter in numerous far off landscapes.
But, in recent times, she has been obliged to stay close to home.
The Goose Field is next door to Mary’s house. She can stare at it, through her window, in all weathers and at all hours.
With the passage of many seasons the Field has become a richly deep metaphor for the wider world, inspiring countless drawings, prints and paintings.Mary describes this fundamental change in her perception and in her method of work… “I used to paint from the outside in. Now I paint from the inside out.”
